We offer unique services with highly qualified licensed therapists who are dedicated to helping people achieve optimum emotional health. Each member of our team brings unique expertise, compassion, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. Our team is committed to providing personalized care and fostering a supportive environment where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve emotional wellness.

Owner & Clinical Director ANGELA P. MAES, LCSW. Angela is the Owner & Clinical Director of Healthy Families. She is a licensed independent Social Worker with a certification in EMDR by the EMDR Institute. She is a proud volunteer of Give an Hour - a program established to provide free mental health counseling services for military & their families. She has extensive training in Trauma & Abuse and has developed classes and programs for Anger Management, Building Self-Esteem.





Susan is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who brings a wealth of lived experiences into her practice. Using various therapeutic modalities, she is dedicated to empowering her clients, cultivating support systems, and equipping them with personalized tools to navigate life’s challenges. She has extensive experience working with children, tweens, teens and adults and brings a unique personal perspective to working with military members, veterans and their family members.

Will Blythe is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who is trained in EMDR and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. His counseling incorporates conscious practices of self-care to include everyday awe, mindfulness, and psychic awareness. Will counsels primarily with adults and has a strong passion to connect with men and support them with life’s transitions. He is a native New Mexican who earned his M.A. in Counseling from the University of N.M.

Hector R. Carrillo is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor who holds a graduate degree in Counseling from the University of New Mexico. He utilizes Social Constructionist, Narrative, and Multicultural approaches to collaboratively define how individuals have experienced matters of significance within their lived worlds. Hector specializes in trauma and couples counseling. He works with adolescents (10+), adults, and couples across all spectrums of self and identity.

Faith is an LMHC with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of New Mexico. Faith practices from a humanistic, person-centered approach that acknowledges clients are the experts of their lives. Faith works with clients of all ages and specializes in Infant Mental Health (0-5) with a focus in Child Parent Psychotherapy. Faith also provides play therapy for children ages 6-12 & individual, trauma informed therapy for clients 13+.

Alessandra, a Licensed Master Social Worker, obtained her degree from NMHU, and practices client-centered therapy. Specializing in body awareness, coping strategies, and incorporating Polyvagal theory, she tailors her approach by drawing from various modalities such as CBT, DBT, and MI. As an LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapist, she excels in working with anxiety, trauma, OCD, and neurodivergent individuals, providing inclusive and supportive care for diverse clientele.


Elke is a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner that is passionate about providing holistic, culturally competent and patient-centered care that addresses both the psychological and medical aspects of mental health. She believes in empowering individuals to actively participate in their treatment and recovery process, fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and respect.

Tiffany is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health counselor who graduated from the counseling program at UNM. Tiffany works with adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, and seniors. Tiffany's theoretical orientation is a combination of Person Centered, Adlerian, Solution based and Attachment theory. Tiffany's goal is to meet the client where they are at and help guide them through their journey.

Christine is a licensed professional clinical counselor, national certified counselor, and graduate of UNM. She believes in a solution-focused, strengths-based model of therapy while integrating mindfulness, play therapy, art therapy, and EMDR into her practice. Christine's counseling interests include acute mental health, trauma, anxiety, and grief. She aims to empower her clients with the tools and insights needed to overcome challenges, manage stress, and achieve emotional well-being.

Kendra earned her BA with a focus on art and psychology from Carlow University in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. Kendra came to ABQ in 2018 to pursue her MA in art therapy and counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe. She emphasizes art therapy focuses on the process, not the product. She uses the creative process to guide clients in expressing emotions. She uses a strengths-based approach, and mindfulness techniques in her sessions. She works with children 8+, teenagers, and adults.

Andrew Leyva is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC, PMHNP-BC) specializing in integrated care that addresses both physical and mental health. With experience in trauma units and outpatient settings, he offers holistic, tailored treatment for complex, co-occurring conditions. Licensed in TX, NM, and NE, and trained at the University of Texas at El Paso, Andrew helps patients achieve sustainable wellness through compassionate, informed care.

Moriah MacCleod, LPCC is a licensed clinical mental health counselor with as Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri, St. Louis with specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. Moriah works from a client-centered, strengths-based, solution-focused perspective. She is certified in EMDR and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She enjoys working with individuals, couples and families.

Micah is a LPCC who earned her Master of Clinical/Counseling Psychology from New Mexico Highlands University. She has worked as a strength-based counselor for children, adolescents, adults, and families for over 20 years. At Healthy Families of Albuquerque, Micah specializes in working with adolescents (14+), adults, and families.  She enjoys art, reading, exercising, movies, animals, music, the outdoors, and traveling. She will listen, provide support, and help identify strengths to build upon.

Patrick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Health Education Specialist. He graduated from NMSU with both his MSW and MPH. Since working in mental health, he has immersed himself in mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR therapy. He primarily works with adults pursuing individual counseling related to addressing issues with depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, transitions in life, and relational issues that individuals have with their friends and family.

Jill is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician who obtained her degree with a Master's in Counseling at the University of Phoenix. She is going on 12 years of experience in working with all ages (adults, teens, and children) but specializes in working with children using Play Therapy. Jill also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness as well as strength-based therapy to help people who are struggling with trauma due to past abuse.

Carmen O. Rodrigo, Ma, LPAT is a graduate of California State University. She has 25 years of clinical experience across various settings such as adult and Behavioral Health Hospitals for geriatrics. She also has experience in residential settings for children and adolescents, outpatient, in-school teen Mom programs for prevention of child abuse, Women's group on adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, Community outreach specialists in the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.

Jessica Spooner is an LMSW, is originally from Rio Rancho, and currently resides in the Albuquerque area with her 2 cats. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family. Jessica received her undergraduate degree from UNM where she focused on Family Studies and Psychology. She attended NMHU and received her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. Jessica believes that every person is the expert of their own experience. She is trained in EMDR.

Emily Voorhees is a licensed master social worker and graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work. She provides trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals (ages 14 and up) and couples. Emily integrates EMDR, DBT skills, and somatic practices to support clients in processing trauma, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening relationships. Her work is grounded, collaborative, and focused on long-term healing and growth.

Daniela enjoys working with people from all walks of life, especially children, adolescents and families, and believes true healing happens in the relationship context. She works from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective, and has experience in play therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. In her free time, Daniela enjoys spending time in nature and with those close to her.

Originally from Pasadena, CA, Judy is a professional writer & editor who moved to New Mexico in 1996 to pursue a career in mental health. She received her MS in Clinical Psychology from New Mexico Highlands University and has since been working with adolescents and adults specializing in PTSD, depression, grief, & spiritual issues of all kinds. Judy is trained in EMDR and cognitive behavior therapy, and enjoys working with clients from all religious and cultural backgrounds.

Will, MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, offers CBT-based therapy. Graduating NMHU in December, he's passionate about awakening each client's innate ability to heal and grow. He builds collaborative therapeutic relationships, with the belief that each person has the ability to own their own mental health journey, regardless of where they start. He is open to a diverse clientele, with a special focus in addressing men's unique mental health challenges. Will enjoys swimming and karaoke.

Jessica graduates from NMHU in May 2025 with an MA in Clinical Social Work. Her passion lies in working with women and children, with a particular focus on maternal mental health and infant mental health. She practices from a strengths-based perspective, incorporating attachment and narrative theory to help clients process their experiences while meeting them where they are. A vital part of her future therapeutic practice will include her soon-to-be therapy dog, Maisie.

Elianna, also known as Ellie, graduates from NMHU in 2025 with her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ellie has ample knowledge providing therapeutic care to kids, teens, and adults from diverse backgrounds. She knows that counseling is a unique and adaptive experience. Guided by her belief that everyone deserves to have a voice, Ellie strives to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages connection, growth, and authenticity by utilizing a person-centered approach.
